Twilight Tiles

Quick post for me today, and I am going to show you some new Twilight themed tiles. Twilight is so popular at the moment, I have to admit, I've only managed to watch one of the films, but maybe this is the time to make use of my LoveFilm subscription and get some inspiration from the films!

My main reason for choosing some Twilight themed jewellery was that my friend is a Huuuuuuuge fan of the Twilight films, and her birthday was coming up. I love giving people something special, memorable, and something that others don't have. She is also a passsionate jewellery maker, so this piece had to be extra impressive, as I imagine she will be judging me on my skills! I hope this piece is just perfect for her.

These scrabble tile earrings are also my first earrings I have made from these tiles. I have been asked by a few people if I can make them into earrings, and here they are! This means I can now use my tiles for necklaces, bracelets, keyrings, earrings and wine glass charms.

For all of you new followers here is a little bit about my tiles. All the scrabble tiles are made from vintage wooden scrabble tiles that are imported from America. I also buy the artwork from the USA as unfortunately I don't yet have the graphic design skills to create my own. {One day I hope to!} I then cut, attach, and file the images onto the tile, and glaze {By hand} the tile to create a raised, glass like finish. A bail is attached to the back, where the original scrabble tile letter is also visible.

I am now completely addicted to making these tiles, and I now have 4 racks, 1 box, 1 ring display box, and 4 necklace busts full of ones ready to go to their new homes!  I also stock a local art and gift shop and I often have comments from local people in the village saying how much they love them. I am so glad I started this new venture, I am also busy making sock monkeys, which when I have finished them I will post them here too.

Busy Busy,,

So it's been manic over at my house. Baby is well on her way to walking, at JUST 9 months, and she doesn't leave me alone for 5 minutes! The house is currently upside with old furniture leaving and new furniture being delivered, and trying to baby proof EVERYTHING! And I seem to be food shopping on a daily basis!

But along with all that, I've managed to fit a lot in recently. I am now showcasing my new pieces at Amaryllis {a cute little art & gift shop in our village} Which I will add, I took my pieces there and within 10minutes of them being there, I sold one of my butterfly design rings, before they even got to the display! So proud : D

I'm also heading over to Exeter when I get chance to show off some pieces in the Quay Tea Rooms. They have just created themselves a little Craft Corner. Looking forward to sharing my passion with even more people! Hopefully pick up some sales too!

And finally, I've found a lovely website called DevonMade, and I am currently working on some Scrabble Tiles to email over to them, along with a short biography for my seller's page. Cant wait! It seems to all be happening at once!

I have to say, starting these scrabble tiles has been so much fun, and I'm totally addicted. This leopard print ring is my favourite, and has proven itself very popular, along with my other animal print tiles. My portfolio of tiles is getting larger by the day. Although I haven't lost my talent for other jewellery making, but it has been put to one side for a while, am tempted to get my beads out again.

Please, if you have any requests/suggestions of what YOU would like to see me add to my tiles, just leave me a message.

To celebrate the NEW business and the fact I have now reached 50 likes on my NEW FB page, I am going to celebrate by hosting a give away.

I will be giving away this UNIQUE tile. Its retro, flower design is simply stylish, and like my other tiles is made from a wooden scrabble tile, and glazed for a raised glass like finish. Each tile shows the original tile on the reverse side. Due to the size of the bail on the tile, it can easily be removed from the necklace chain, and attached to another chain you have at home {if you wish}.

For a chance to win this original piece of jewellery, just leave your name and email address in a comment below this post. If you do not have a profile on blogger etc, select "anonymous" as your profile. If you do have any problems leaving a comment, please email me at {I havent opened a new business email as yet}

I will announce the winner, and notify them by email on Thursday 12th January

Good luck! xx

So after playing around with the scrabble tiles, I decided it was time to buy some artwork. Don't think Ill have the skills or the time to be creating these images any time soon so I have to by them from other talented people on Etsy.

I had to choose something suitable for everyone, something to catch peoples eyes. So I chose a mix of different pattern and styles.

These RETRO patterns are all different, and there are rather a lot of them, so I have made up a few as examples, and the others will be made up upon ordering.

Both of these tiles are currently available to purchase and will be posted the next day. They are both unique and attractive but not up to every ones taste, so,

If requesting a different artwork may require ordering and printing so it can take up to 3-4 days but I can give you an estimated date when you order.

All photos of made up tiles are ACTUAL photographs. On a lot of the American sites that sell similar tiles, are computer generated. My photos are genuine, and haven't been digitally manipulated to look perfect.

So this is where it all started,, the classic, wooden "old school" scrabble tile.

To make this necklace, I have used the wooden scrabble tile {imported from the USA}! And created a raised, glass like finish over the top of the pendant. Its a fiddly technique {the glazing part} And you need to be patient when it comes to drying. Patience is something I lack in, but I'm learning to manage!

Ive used a silver plated ball chain for these necklaces. I think they are a lot more effective {and also they are sooo much easier to put together!} I bought these "made with love" charms so that I could give that extra personal touch to my pieces. They come attactched to the necklace / other item of jewellery, but can easily be  taken off by the customer if they wish.

These necklaces can be made in any letter, and each one comes in a pretty little organza bag. These classic scrabble tile necklaces are £5, plus P&P charges, depending on the size of your order.

Welcome to my new page, Lucy-Luus. I have decided to do this because I have now found my feet in the business world and also found a major addiction in jewellery making!

I have been using wooden scrabble tiles which are special because they are no longer made in the UK.

The stylish designs I will be bringing you can either be picked from the range of already made pieces or the artwork portfolio I will be building. This gives YOU the opportunity to create your own pieces of jewellery and other gifts, customizing them to your wishes
